Claudio Ranieri has commented that the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England at Wembley was a 50-50 game.

The boss, who left Sampdoria after leading the team to a ninth-place finish in Serie A last season, said: “I am very happy because there are some young players. And of course there are experience players like Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and Jorginho, it’s a very good combination,” Ranieri said.

‘I’m very important that we get back to a high level. It is important for all Italians. It’s not just for the fans.”

“Now we have the right idea, yes we have the spirit of Italy. We are together, we are patient, we fight, but Mancini wants the national team to be happy attacking. Play offensively in every situation.”

“If possible We will try to dominate the game, but if not, we will defend it.”

“I think it will be a very good game. I said before the start of the Euros that the final could be Italy and England.”

“I think England will push the game a lot. Because there are so many fans at Wembley, but Italy will try to play one or two strokes to beat the press.

“It’s a 50-50 game because 90 per cent of Wembley will push the team but Italy are ready to fight, play football, ready to try to win. I hope the referee does a great job. That’s what’s important right now.”

“Italian players are used to playing in every situation, for them it’s good to play on every pitch.”
