Former defender Jaap Stam has offered to help Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim solve the club’s defensive problems.
The Red Devils’ problems at the back have continued since the Portuguese took over from ufabet https://ufabet999.app Erik ten Hag, with the team keeping just one clean sheet in nine games under Amorim, most recently a 3-0 home thrashing by Bournemouth.
Amorim brought in five members of his coaching staff from Sporting Lisbon, including Carlos Fernandez, Adelio Candido, Emmanuel Ferro, Jorge Vitale and Paulo Barreira.
Stam, who enjoyed great success and was part of the 1999 treble-winning squad, is disappoint not to have approache about taking up a coaching role at the club since hanging up his boots in 2007, but is confident he has the experience to help the club should Amorim be interest.
“I would love to be a coach at Manchester United. But they’re not answering my phone calls! I think everyone involved at the club would love to go back and help,” Stam told Sports Lens.
“I’ve been a manager before and I’ve been a coach before. It’s good to help them in any position,” he said.
“I’m always open to talk because I want to see the club win trophies again and maybe I can help with the defence, but with the new manager and the new staff coming in. They have a lot of options, but you never know.”
